Patricia Henwo​od

Dr. Patricia Henwood is the Chief Clinical Officer, James D and Mary Jo Danella Chief Quality Officer and Executive Vice President at Jefferson Health, and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Population Health at Thomas Jefferson University. She leads Jefferson Health’s nationally awarded OnPoint quality and safety program across the 18-hospital system. The OnPoint team focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to quality, safety, health equity, and patient experience improvement leveraging human-factors and systems engineering design principles that are fully integrated with Clinical Operations, Nursing, Informatics, Analytics, and IS&T. Jefferson Health has recently received national recognition for its safety management system, improvement efforts in sepsis mortality, CLABSI, equity and COVID-19 management.  

Dr. Henwood led vulnerable community COVID-19 testing site initiation early in the pandemic and served as PI and Jefferson’s operational leader for mobile community COVID-19 vaccination efforts across Philadelphia. In 2022 Jefferson Health was recognized as a HIMSS Davies Award winner for leveraging analytics capabilities and a variety of technology tools to address several clinical challenges through the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, notably closing equity gaps with the administration of COVID-19 vaccinations and mitigating infection risk for acute care patients. 

Dr. Henwood’s career has centered on a multidisciplinary approach to improving care quality and building more effective systems globally and locally, with a focus on improving outcomes and reducing care disparities for vulnerable populations. She attended Georgetown University (BA, Government), Jefferson’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College (MD), trained at the Harvard-Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, and completed fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She held various faculty and clinical leadership roles at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School prior to joining Jefferson in 2019.
