Mark Lifson

Mark Lifson is the Director of Systems Engineering AI for Mayo Clinic’s Center for Digital Health.
In this role, he leads a team of skilled engineers to translate medical research software safely
and effectively into the clinic using industry best practices.

In his previous role at Abbott Laboratories, Mark was involved in the development and launch of
commercial laboratory hematology analyzers and AI/ML algorithms and gained increasing
responsibilities across various aspects of the business, including commercial, quality, and
regulatory operations. Mark earned his Computer Engineering bachelor’s degree from the
Rochester Institute of Technology, focused on advanced networking and algorithms. Mark went
on to complete a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester, where he
published research and co-invented new types of novel nanomaterials before pursuing a
postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, where he focused on developing nanoscale
point-of-care diagnostics.
