Carmen L. Hughes

Carmen Hughes, MBA is a dynamic leader and visionary serving as the Health IT Division Director for HI-BRIDGE Solutions and HI-BRIDGE HIE, as well as the Director for the National COVID-19 Resiliency Network (NCRN) at the prestigious Morehouse School of Medicine’s National Centerfor Primary Care in Atlanta, GA.

In her impactful role, Carmen spearheads the expansion of the Health IT Division, delivering cutting-edge education and outreach to clinicians and healthcare organizations. Her focus areas include interoperability, digital health technology, value-based payment initiatives, and practice transformation activities, all geared towards advancing health equity.

Under Carmen’s strategic guidance, the Division has evolved into a formidable Health IT resource, reaching across Georgia and the nation through HI-BRIDGE HIE. Notably, she has played a pivotal role in establishing HI-BRIDGE HIE as the first regional health information exchange connected to Georgia’s statewide health information network, GaHIN.

Carmen’s academic journey reflects her commitment to excellence. She holds a B.A. in Economics with a Marketing and Management Concentration from Spelman College, complemented by an Executive MBA from Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business.

A lifelong learner, Carmen continually pursues specialized certifications, including Promoting Interoperability, QPP, HIPAA, and Health IT. As an active member of HIMSS (both GA and national chapters), she remains at the forefront of industry trends and innovations.
