Charles E. Binkley, MD, FACS, HEC-C, Director of Bioethics at Hackensack Meridian Health, and Associate Professor of Surgery at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
Dr. Binkley’s academic research is focused on ethical issues impacting physicians and patients when Artificial Intelligence systems are used to support clinical decisions. In particular, Dr. Binkley is interested in the need to inform patients when AI systems are used to make decisions, shared machine-physician agency for decision making, and assigning moral responsibility for AI guided clinical decisions.
Dr. Binkley is the co-author of Encoding Bioethics: AI in Clinical Decision Making which will be published by the University of California Press in June 2024.
