Session Description

David Vidal, JD provides an overview of a novel Mayo Clinic hub for supporting the translation of AI innovation. This AI Enablement team is comprised of multidisciplinary AI experts who provide services and capabilities to scale the translation of safe, effective, and ethical AI for Mayo Clinic. The team partners with AI leadership across Mayo Clinic to contribute AI development, engineering, and regulatory expertise as well as align standards, automate processes, and build reusable assets to optimize AI translation.

David Vidal, JD, Vice Chair, AI Enablement | Mayo Clinic Center for Digital Health

David is an attorney and FDA quality/regulatory expert focused on Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). As Vice Chair of SaMD Regulation in Mayo Clinic Center for Digital Health, he is leading the development of enterprise-wide infrastructure to enable safe, effective, and ethical realization of FDA-regulated software. David previously held the position of General Counsel and Senior VP of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs at IDx Technologies Inc., where he played an instrumental role in the clearance and deployment of IDx-DR, the first autonomous AI diagnostic authorized by the FDA. Prior to law school, David was assistant coach of the Stanford Cross Country and Track teams for 5 years.
