Paul S. Crews

Paul S. Crews, MPH, FACHE, was appointed Executive Director of VA’s Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) on October 10, 2021. VISN 6 has 46 sites of care in North Carolina and Virginia, including seven VA Medical Centers and 32 associated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), five Health Care Centers, and two free-standing dialysis clinics. The network has an operations budget of more than 6.2 billion dollars, 22,543 employees, and 4,000 volunteers and serves 454,636 Veterans annually.    

Mr. Crews has an accomplished history of 30 years of health care experience. Most recently serving as the Executive Director of the Durham VA Health Care System for the last three years. Mr. Crews is highly experienced in rural emergency medical services, hospital emergency medicine, Navy, Army, and Veteran’s medicine, rural community health planning, rural health policy analysis, healthcare quality, patient safety, and healthcare administration.  

He was recently awarded the 2021 Dr. Allen Herkimer Award for Outstanding Alumni from Texas State University School of Health Administration. In 2020, he was named the North Carolina Chapter’s Regent’s Senior Healthcare Executive Award recipient. Both awards recognized Mr. Crew’s history of distinguished accomplishments and contributions to health care.    

He is a proud Navy Veteran who has been married to his wife, Mary Lou, for over 20 years.
