Jared Augenstein, Managing Director, Manatt Health.

Jared Augenstein is a managing director with Manatt Health, an interdisciplinary policy and business advisory practice of Manatt. He provides strategic business advice, policy design and analysis as well as project management to health care providers, health tech companies, state and local governments, foundations, life sciences companies, and other health care organizations. Jared’s primary areas of focus are advising private- and public-sector clients on health technology, telehealth, artificial and augmented intelligence, care model design and transformation, federal and state health policy trends, and provider markets.

Jared advises on digital health strategy, remote monitoring, AI, and policy. He has published on digital transformation and telemedicine, working with the AMA, AAMC, and others.

Annie Fox, Manager, Manatt Health

Annie Fox is a Manatt Health manager focused on strategy development and policy analysis for health care providers, state health departments, digital health startups, foundations, and non-profit organizations, among others.

Annie has extensive experience working in provider settings and digital health organizations. Prior to joining Manatt, Annie conducted clinical research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and scaled several digital health startups both domestically (implementing telepsychiatry programs in Community Mental Health Centers across the United States) and abroad (scaling AI-based technologies to support access to family planning).

Randi Seigel, Partner, Manatt Health

Randi Seigel provides legal and strategic counsel to health care providers, emerging health tech and services companies, women’s health companies, insurers, and post-acute care providers. Randi brings substantial knowledge of complex health care regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state privacy laws, state licensure and scope of practice laws, telehealth, artificial intelligence, Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation and billing, fraud and abuse laws, and other regulatory and enforcement matters. Randi’s deep understanding of the health care players—from commercial and government payors to providers—brings valuable insights to her clients to assist them as they develop and execute their strategic goals. Randi also supports her clients in structuring innovative payment arrangements, assessing the risks and regulatory impacts of complex transactions, and responding to government audits.

Session Description
The AI legal and regulatory landscape is rapidly evolving as federal and state policy makers work to determine how AI should be regulated to balance its transformative potential with concerns regarding safety, security, privacy, accuracy, bias. This webinar, building on the Manatt Health AI Policy Traker, will focus on a landscape overview of federal and state level efforts to regulate development, deployment and use of health AI tools and predictions for where regulation may be headed.
